About The Artwork

In this painting “Syria, the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse” I gather archetypes like oppressors and victims omitting the presence of a liberator or a saviour aiming to entice the viewer into the reality of those who are often unheard. Actions from medieval paintings, images from current affairs, biblical characters, architectural icons, I take them all to represent the conflict between powerful interests and people’s lives. The technical purpose of the painting is to generate a rhythm for its exploration through the combination of forms, colours and lines; these also reveal in some areas the underlying structure.
