ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A Land of Winds. At the same time desert and welcoming, multitudes of terrestrial layers offering a journey through time. Sand, time, wind... a lot of wind, an appeasement of the soul. A territory not yet conquered.

His works are a tribute to the earth, an invitation to contemplate and recognize its power and richness. "I don't pretend to say that my paintings are pieces of our planet, just that they can offer at any moment, this feeling of well-being. The one that we feel in each of us when we are physically in front of its beaches, its mountains, its forests... In front of all these places that make these moments so unique. This love for the earth, she owes it to her initiatory course. At first, as a ceramist's assistant to a sculptor in the early 2000s, she met clay, made her first sculptures and learned what this great family of pigments was. Then she became a painter on ceramics in one of the greatest workshops in Vallauris, before opening her own ceramics workshop. Her artistic peregrinations lead her to Tokyo, Paris, Belgium, Italy... Painting, already present in her life and in her art, will take the first place a few years later. Today it is her one and only medium. Céline Dupont is a painter of the matter. Sand is for her the perfect medium for her creations. "Mixed with various mortars, binders or other aggregates, the possibilities of creation are infinite. Coming from various parts of the earth, sand allows for a multitude of realistic renderings and palettes. The sand of Madagascar with its perfect shine. The one from Southern Brittany with its deep matte. To obtain a very smooth side, the sand of Corsica is irreproachable. Sculpting it to work on volumes is captivating. Nature is an extraordinary supplier of materials: sand, coal, quartz, natural pigments... Céline Dupont paints with these natural treasures that she mixes to make pastes or coatings. She seeks to recreate a texture and to evoke a tactile sensation. On her canvases, nature spreads out. Her gesture, she wants it raw. Her paintings are comparable to "a piece of rock worked, eliminated by time, sculpted by the wind. The light must bring realism to the matterl. There can be a sensation of fog, of fine rain falling, of a desert heat. Through her paintings she seeks to convey a message, "but also to make this message beautiful, both for the eyes and for the soul and heart of man." The titles of her paintings represent their identity and refer to the materials used. She names her paintings when they are finished. "I walk away from them a few feet, relive their creation, their birth, their character. A Name then arrives.
