ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is a joyful image of a lady sitting in an idyllic garden scene of flourishing foliage and warm sunshine. As a reflection on beauty found about her in nature and its fruitfulness, she is singing. Adorning her, is an oriental silk dress, as blue as the skies above her. It is a joyful and bright image, and I hope the viewer will enjoy its optimism and hope. Oil paint is rich and carries pigment very well, which I hope can be seen in this image.

She is a graduate from 'Camberwell College of Art' (2002) and is currently participating in the ‘Turps Banana’ Offsite Painters Programme 2021/22. Inspired by landscape, nature and her ‘everyday’, Sue works in bright and colourful layers of fragmented and deconstructed images, which at times straddle the border with representation. Sue works with galleries and art consultancies, selling her work to a variety of clients and she also supplies bespoke commissions. She regularly exhibits in solo and group exhibitions; in particular she recently displayed and sold her work during the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2020.   Additionally, she has exhibited and been a resident artist in both Westminster Cathedral and St Paul’s Cathedral (2001-2004) and has work held in several public and private collections including Norman Foster & Partners, The British Society of Haematology and St Paul’s Cathedral.    She writes poetry and works as a community artist providing therapeutic art workshops for all ages.  Her planned solo exhibition at Pictorem Gallery, London, that was scheduled for May 2021 is being rearranged owing to the current restrictions.
