I am inspired by the sound and motion of Taiko, Japanese drums. Taiko drummer is pounding an O dailko (large taiko) on stand. Drummer uses his whole body, large movements with his arms to play large taiko.

Lili Miura was born in Tokyo, Japan, and spent her early years in metropolitan Tokyo studying fine art and international business. She had a successful career as a fashion model and TV talent. After immigrating to the United States, Lili studied fine art and graphic design. She worked as a textile designer for a fabric clothing producer in Los Angeles, where she advanced to an art director, managing the creative team. Seeking a new challenge, she entered the advertising agency as a graphic designer and was later promoted to art director. Following a successful career, she launched her own advertising and marketing agency, Miura Advertising, in Torrance, and developed advertising campaigns for hotels and clients with international brands. Miura Advertising also launched and published several regional magazines: The Palos Verdes Style (an affluent lifestyle magazine) and the Torrance Magazine (a business magazine for the Torrance Chamber of Commerce). Both publications received several “Best of regional publication” awards. After 20 years of building a successful agency, she closed her offices and now maintains her consultancy with a few of her former clients. In recent years, she has dedicated her time to painting and art consulting, and one of her volunteer roles led her to become a gallery docent for the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. This experience deepened her appreciation for fine art and influenced her paintings. Her favorite subjects are figurative with contemporary realism, juxtaposed with symbolism.
