Taking Things Apart Painting

Taking Things Apart was created using paints left behind by collaborators on larger projects. The colors are ones that I wouldn't use in my own work but it's nice to work with what is readily available. It involves others in the creative process and pushes the work in different directions, sometimes leading into areas I would like to explore more. This also is a good example of the contradictions I like to have on a single surface: hard, geometric planes share the same space as amorphic dabs of paint, shapeless forms that grow on and around more structurally sound bits. The canvas is of the previously enjoyed variety, first painted in the early 00's.
