The technique I use for the horse is like a very fine craquelure porcelain which catches the light. I love the original Tang Horse sculptures, the dusty terracotta colours, proud head carriage, solid muscular bodies.

My themes are horses from the Mughal and Tang Empires, birds, hares, gardens and interiors. I use gesso in some of my work which I build up in layers and distress, in conjunction with acrylic, oil and gold leaf. I particularly love the effect of craquelure. I use deep canvases painted over the sides, none of my work needs to be framed and they are all ready to hang.
