Target Painting

“Target” As a form of expression about the war between Ukraine and Russia, I created this work called “Target.” The primary representation in this work is the innocent civilians of both countries affected by this conflict. I created this work close to Christmas; so much of it represents the dream of life and the Christmas magic that those people will not be able to experience in 2022. Movement and colour The large triangle highlighted in work is a representation of a missile and also a separation between people within the midst of the war (inside the triangle) and the world outside the conflict between the two countries (outside of the triangle). The dark colours in the work represented inside the triangle/missile are the innocents affected by the war. In contrast, the predominant vibrant colours outside the missile represent the outside world living the Christmas dream and their lives normally. One of the few brightly coloured figures within the triangle is the figure of a deer, representing the dreams and hopes still alive among Ukrainian and Russian civilians. Considerations I recommend putting this painting in a well-lit environment for greater emphasis on the colours and glitter used on the canvas.
