Inspired by the song “Teardrop” by Massive Attack, this piece sprung from a visualisation of tears burning and evaporating as a symbolic image for the purging of hard-felt emotions. The day I finally drew a line beneath my career as a dancer was overwhelmingly filled with tears, a huge sense of loss and lack of belonging, I knew those feelings wouldn’t leave me easily. This visualisation was my way of helping myself to believe I could find my new purpose, remembering that I had already lived through worse and carried that history before, life goes on and I didn’t have to shun the sadness to carry on, I just needed to accept it.

Natacha Bisarre is an emerging artist originally from Brussels, currently living in London, United Kingdom. Deeply rooted in her dance background, her work is mostly abstract expressionist and at times figurative. Her work is heavily influenced by her experience in dance and her resulting heightened awareness of the physical, emotional and spiritual human experience. In any medium she aims to express lived experiences and perceptions using movement, colour, and space. Natacha’s work includes Film, Photography and Painting. "My work explores the human condition and its multi-layered wonders and contradictions. My background in dance informs both my visual and emotional observations of the human form, and indeed movement plays a large part of it, both in the process and result of finished pieces. Similarly to my work as a dance artist, my fine art processes involve play and exploration of new techniques and materials often determined by the nature of the observations I am making about myself, that become the inspiration for the work. One of my latest collections called “Human Nature” was achieved using inks and hand-picked twigs from my garden to create linear markings on paper: the inspiration for this collection being the paradox of the sense of comfort and stimulation I get from living and working in a city while always yearning to be physically connected with nature. Watercolours, inks, and fluid acrylics feature mostly in my works due to their intrinsic flowing qualities which lend themselves to more naturalistic shapes and movement. Playing with fluid materials allows me to have ‘conversations’ with my work, responding to them as much as to my own impulses and ideas. I also often use numerous layers when working on canvas which again depicts the multi-faceted qualities of the subjects I choose. The final layers often include finer lines and markings which I find are essential to my pieces and are almost ceremonial to me in illustrating how everything we experience as humans is connected, whether we are conscious of it or not."
