Teetering On The Precipice Of Consequence Painting

This year has been filled with upheaval and tragedy. It feels like so many different arenas coming to a head, evoking strong emotions all around. I've been keeping track of ecological issues for a long time. Ubiquitous pollution and rampant destruction of flora and fauna is and has been felt globally with disastrous results. In this piece I was able to channel and express my anger, sorrow, and plea for humans to wake up, to love and protect our only home for not just ourselves, but for future humans and all species. Polar bears like many species are facing unprecedented challenge, but all hope is not lost. It's never too late to turn the tide, and awareness is such as never before so while things on one hand look seriously dire, on the other hand I've seen lots of evidence that actually offers a lot of hope. This painting is a tribute to the particular plight of the polar bear and all denizens of the frozen poles as they have gotten precipitously warmer.
