About The Artwork
I react to life like a film director or a theatre director. I have worked many years back stage in London westend theatre. Parallel to this life, I suppose I've always lived a fairly challenging Human life in some ways too. I had an ink work I'd made with me as I began this piece. I liked how it worked. Some elements get set fairly soon. Then I work with the language of colour and form and what feel right. Almost Like music. Its like asking a jazz musician why he improvised certain Musical variants on a melody instinctively. Very tricky for me to translate painting, as a human language in itself to word. Ultimately, as a Human you will bring to it yourself and have your relationship with it too.

Canadian-born Jennifer Mills moved to London aged 3 where she still resides and works. She has spent her life pursuing many creative passions. At 17 she pursued full time studies in dance, but returned to her first love of painting, securing a place at Central St. Martins School of Art where she trained under London Group Artist Mike Thorpe. Jennifer often uses film, music and particular images that resonate with her whilst she is painting. Her work is evocative and passionate and is constantly evolving. Painting humans using figurative expressionism and/or her style of portraiture. The paint/colour is sculpted on the surface. She is interested in the presence they evoke in an unspecified space. How they represent deep sensibilities and the human state. Her figures grow out of a dialogue with the paint. The illustrative turns into sensation using autobiographical influences.
