Rob Rek is a multi-award-winning career artist and tutor, working from his studios in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. His artworks are driven by the perfection and fine details of the natural world. The process of exacting the results he produces today, are skills which have taken many years of focused study and practice to refine. Using only the finest archival materials available, he approaches many subject matters - But nothing has held his attention more tightly than the world of birds. Striving to achieve ever more perfect results has seen REK Collaborating with multiple professional nature photographers from Australia and abroad - always seeking out only the best reference material to work from His work has proliferated in recent years, he exhibits regularly, and his sought-after paintings are held in private, corporate and government collections from every corner of Australia and across the globe. His artwork has been commissioned for children’s books, appeared on national TV in Australia, and has been a finalist in many competitive art prizes including The Brisbane Rotary Art Prize, Queensland Figurative, the Art Lovers Australia Art Prize and the Lethbridge 20,000. In 2021 REK was the winner of the Sixth Annual Hinchinbrook Birdlife Art Awards for his painting “The Lion’s Roar” In 2022 REK was the winner of the Seventh Annual Hinchinbrook Birdlife Art Awards for his painting "All Is Fair In Love & Bling" His work “Rainbow Bridge” was the recipient of the People’s Choice award at the 43rd annual art awards held by The TYTO Regional Art Gallery. In 2020 REK was the feature artist and guest judge at the Royal Queensland art Societies' Biannual Exhibition. In 2022 he was invited to tutor at the McGregor college of art in USQ Toowoomba. In 2022 he cofounded Sage Creative Art Gallery at Portside Wharf in Brisbane. REK is represented by numerous professional art galleries and creative pursuits across Australia.
