Cordeiro Almeida is a contemporary Brazilian sculptor and painter. He did his artistic studies at CenArte, in Sao Luis; at Espaço Aberto, of the City Hall in Porto Alegre; and at the School of Visual Arts of Park Lage, in Rio de Janeiro. After living for seven years in Sao Paulo, the artist moved to Portugal, where he currently lives and works. The artist went through many phases and studied different cultures. Among the researched themes are: Rock Art, The Bible, The Indian, The Circus, African and Eastern Cultures. He made use of many techniques: in painting, oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, collage and pointillism, among others. He evolved from academic painting to abstractionism, through figurativism, surrealism and impressionism. In sculpture, among the techniques he used, modeling, carving and forging stand out. He had experiences with concrete, clay, iron, steel, precious stones and noble metal. For more than ten years, he created works based on research on the cultures of tribal peoples, including South American Indians and the remaining tribes of Africa, who inhabit the Omo River valley in Ethiopia. He held several individual and group exhibitions, of sculpture, painting and installation, in Brazil, The United States, Portugal and France. He taught art to needy children, blinded children and to adult people, in Sao Luis and Sao Paulo/BR. From 2005 to 2020, 23 works have been in the custody of MAC USP - Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
