The ambiguity of the boundaries My artwork is a reflection of my utter inability to adapt to reality. I've always wondered why humans are born and have to live. Artist Bio Heather Kim is a visual artist who is currently based in New York. She studied Oriental painting at Seoul National University, one of South Korea’s most prestigious institutions, and completed graduate-level coursework in art criticism, establishing a strong foundation in visual theory and interpretation. After relocating to the United States, she worked as a graphic designer for over 20 years, during which she began translating her perspective on the world into visual art. Her work explores the shifting boundaries between nature and structure, reality and illusion, stillness and movement—often using traditional hanji (Korean paper), layered brushwork, and recurring symbolic forms to construct a sensory visual language. In 2024, she was selected as one of Saatchi Art’s 30 Rising Stars, and has since continued to pursue a more distinctive and dynamic creative practice. Looking ahead, she is planning exhibitions that integrate her long-standing expertise in digital media with her traditional foundations, seeking broader forms of visual experimentation and expression.
