The Autumn Painting

• FROM DESIGN TO PAINTING Guillaume Rist is a french painter living near Paris. Inspired by his professional experience as a designer, Guillaume Rist seeks to represent subjects by giving them a new shape, a new skin. It is a game with form. Metamorphose the form while keeping its essence, its nature, or its function. This allows it to approach the subject with a fresh look. Starting from one form to move away from it and give it another reality. His painting is influenced by Pop Art painters, both by bright color palettes and the graphic approach. It is in a narrative artistic trend. Its subjects are painted in silent, enigmatic atmospheres that remain very lively and stimulating for the imaginary. We also find the theme of landscape and still lifes where a dream world mixes with the real world. It is first a formal search that begins with the drawing: define the contours, the full and voids and find lines of force, choose a color palette. Then a report of the drawing on canvas and the beginning of painting. • TECHNIQUES  The oil and acrylic on canvas mainly, and the mixed techniques sometimes to work the material. A second medium comes to complete his work of painting: the digital painting. With the technique of the digital drawing and prints realized on iPad tablet and graphics palette, he experiments a more contemporary depiction which plays in particular on the overlappings of lines and the colors patch.
