About The Artwork
The Paisans were quite the crew at one time... and thicker than thieves we were. Most of us grew up in the same neighborhood and were friends almost before we could walk. We lived and laughed and grew up together, and for a few years before we all went off to see America we were one hell of a crew. We thought the world was our oyster, and we felt like nobody could touch us. It was me; Uncle Benny, Yogi, Cowboy, Brash, Labels, Big Guy, Theo, Prez, and The Bohemian. We all had girlfriends of course, and there were always friends of ours' hanging around, especially when we took our movable feast on the road to go down the shore every summer. Plenty of people were in and around our orbit, but less than a dozen can lay claim to being OG Paisans. This piece is dedicated to the memory of The Bohemian. He lived his life like it was a real time live action abstract expressionist work-in-progress, but he had a heart of gold and a positive attitude that never quit. RIP, Brother Bo. I began my "outsider artist" journey painting on the backs of obsolete Habitat for Humanity signs. When I had gone through all could find I turned to other hand lettered, ad hoc plywood signs like the kind one might find advertising yard sales or in concert venue parking lots. I flip them over and use the open wood panel to create art, including The Bohemian Shuffle. My entire series of 2 foot x 2 foot verso homemade sign artwork are all on clean plywood and weigh ~3.5 lbs so they all will need to be hung in a frame. The Bohemian Shuffle comes with a custom Red Oak frame I made.

After a 30 year career in advertising and sales leadership I escaped the corporate media world a few years ago and can now focus on creating my own work. In other words, I'm an outsider artist that has decades of ideas pouring out. My intent is primarily to create pieces of art that are highly visual and interesting to enjoy and study... but may often express ideas, ask questions, unearth feelings, debate opinions, or sometimes be provocative. Like many paintings though, they're often just a combination of lines, shapes, colors, textures, and space. That said; I hope my work presents a UNIQUE combination of art elements to you and that you like what you see. Better yet, I hope you believe some of my pieces should be included in your collection. I've traveled the world but have always lived in the Philadelphia area. While I have no formal training as an artist, I've been a photographer and I've been around the art community my whole life. My wife Suzanne works as a Docent for the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and together we've raised three wonderful sons that are all now making their own way in the world. We have a home and our studio in Chester County PA with our Bernese Mountain Dog; Mr Charlie.
