About The Artwork

The village of Monesties near Albi in SW France is a favourite drawing place of mine. In this painting I have suggested a connection between the church spire and Florentine cypresses nearby. The composition is subdivided into geometric compartments with many shades of blue predominating.

Born Darjeeling, India 1952. I moved from London to West Dorset in 1987, and have been working as a professional artist for 30 years. These paintings are semi-abstract interpretations of my travels in the desert regions of Morocco and India. The paintings include references to the architecture and handicrafts of indigenous peoples. The drawings are based on Winter walks in the hills around my studio in Dorset, SW England. Recently I have been combining watercolour with graphite in these drawings to suggest the colours of the limestone beneath the earth.
