ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Third work of my new series of paintings exploring one of my favourite pursuits. There is a special place only we that ride a bike know, its during the climb. The pain is special only to ourselves the only solace we take is that it won't last forever, but whilst it does ...... it is especially sweet. It is Sunset and the colours are in keeping with the both the time of year and the emotions of the experience itself. Pictures are taken with a canon 450D camera in dull daylight in flash off mode and are as faithful as i can take them. Oil painting on back framed professionally made wood board designed to be hung without use of traditional frame, will come pre varnished with sealed in certificate to the rear and signed of course.

Simon Jones was born in Grimsby, England. Once the second largest fishing port of its kind in the world, Grimsby sits directly on the North East coast fringed by what is known as 'The Lincolnshire Wolds'. He studied Fine Art on a Foundation Course at Grimsby Art College back in the late 70's and went on to study at Degree Level at Kingston Polytechnic London and later at Hull University gaining a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. He has lived and worked in Lincolnshire most of his life and feels a close connection with its unique landscape. "My passion is Oil Painting primarily my local Landscape (Lincolnshire Wolds). I have lived all my life in and around this landscape and use it as an inexhaustible and inspiring material for my painting. I have a deep love of Fine Art stretching back over 40 years now. Whenever I get the chance I take the opportunity to visit Art Exhibitions and Galleries both home and abroad. I endeavour to imbue my landscapes with mood and melancholy saturating the canvas with varying layers of paint in order to convey tone and texture in what I see. Remember: Look now while life lasts ...
