ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In Mongolian mythology, the raven is a very complicated bird. He is associated with one of the supreme tengri - the deity of the east Hamhir Tengri, whose name Hamhir means "Shaman Raven". And so raven is not so much a bird as an assistant spirit for a shaman. The shaman in his work looks with the eyes of a raven and travels on his wings. These stories inspired me to create a painting of a female shaman, sending her soul-crow into eternal flight.
