ABOUT THE ARTWORK
While on a grant to paint and study the great SouthWest and West I painted both en Plein Aire and in a studio to create a variety of works inspired by the imagery and history of the West. While in Pueblo colorado I visited Bent's old fort where I learned about Dr. Hempstead the fort's doctor who lived in this residence and gave it up for a prominent visitor. The simplicity and the "luxuries" of living on the Santa Fe trail. Great narrative and beautiful place.
