Born in November 1954, daughter of the art painter Raffaele, Ivana Barsciglie’ lived and studied in Sorrento until 1975. Here, she learned painting techniques from her father and improved them with time. In 1971, she finished the Art School at Istituto Statale d'Arte Palizzi of Napoli: here, while attending to local famous artists workshops, she also took part as a ceramist at the event "Primavera Napoletana". In the 80’s she moved to Rome where she had the opportunity to learn the ceramic Raku technique from “Demode” Studium. So far, she has done many collective and personal exhibitions: her artworks are defined as an example of portrait sculpture art in between Expressionism and Realism, a unique and original plasticism art( Daniele Radini Tedeschi, Art Critic) . My sculpture artworks often coincide with different moments of life. They describe an intimate path mostly crossed by difficulties and inner suffer. My first works are faces with a mouth open wide as if they would like to scream. They actually loudly scream in a liberating and relieving outburst. Later on, I explored sails and horses. Both subjects are strong freedom and evasion symbols. At the present, I am still focused on sails in quiet or sometimes agitated oceans as well as horses. Their aflotter manes represent the run, speed, escape and new lands search.
