ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A portrayal of mortality, and individual futility. As in Judaeo-Christian tradition: ...for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Ecclesiastes 3:20 Written by Solomon, based in Jerusalem, King of the Jews, and King of Israel, about 3000 years ago. (Before destruction by Roman Empire). He further advises that you might as well have a good time whilst you live. Good food, good wine, a dance, some music, enjoy, etc.. Unquestionably true. Better than being a sour puss. The arch symbolises a door, portal, transition from life to death, with the faceless monks ready for your last offices. Might as well have a good time before the big sleep.
