I spent a decade as Artist in Residence painting the last days of the Hungry Mile as an operational wharf.This painting shows the abandoned wharf as it had become a ghost town.The once bustling wharf had suddenly become eerily silent & not long afterwards the demolition began. Two centuries of maritime history have come to an end. Poignant reminders of the site's previous function create ironic, even surrealist undertones.
