I'm an Industrial Heritage Artist who always paints "en plein air".
If it's damaged, derelict, doomed and about to disappear, I'll be there to paint it.
I explore some very cool places & immortalize them in my art.- wharves, railways, abandoned buildings, ships & construction sites.
I was awarded the Diploma of Arts in 1982, & the Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies at C.O.F.A., University of N.S.W. in 1983.
But basically I learnt how to paint by going outdoors & painting.
I've held over 50 solo exhibitions since 1986, shown my work in many selective group exhibitions & have won over 200 art prizes.
My panoramic canvas “Closing the Gap”, painted from the summit of the unfinished ANZAC Bridge, was displayed in "ONE Hundred", the exhibition of the 100 most iconic historic objects from the collection of the Mitchell Library, State Library of N.S.W to celebrate the centenary of their founding. The Mitchell Library has a significant and growing collection of over 30 of my historic canvases.
My painting of the construction of Barangaroo is on permanent display in the new galleries of the Mitchell Library,
My artworks are represented in the Mitchell Library collection, State Library of N.S.W.; Artbank; many Regional Gallery & Municipal Council Collections; Department of Defence; University of N.S.W.; University of Sydney; many corporate & private collections throughout Australia, the U.S.A., Europe & Asia.
