This is an original hand painted Sumi-E with Japanese Calligraphy Kakejiku hanging scroll by artist Yoko Collin. This original Japanese Calligraphy scroll painting is a wonderful gift for anyone who loves Japanese art & culture, martial arts practitioners, or Japanese tea ceremony & Ikebana flower arrangement practitioners. -About this scroll painting- This painting is about Shikunshi 四君子 , “The Four Gentlemen”. It's hand painted with freshly made Japanese Sumi-ink, using bamboo brushes. The artist used only the gray tones of freshly made Sumi ink to create the painting. "The Four Gentlemen" 『四君子』. They are four botanicals- bamboo, orchid, chrysanthemum, and plum plants. The four plants represent each meanings of how people can be nobleman. -size- Over all : about 39" x 11 3/4 " (almost 99cm x 30cm) Painting area: about 17 1/2 " x 8" -materials- cloths, paper, sumi ink, seal paste, wood The cloth border is white brocade fabric. Created in January 2022 ---------------------- *about my Sumi painting background: I was trained Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy) since when I was 4 or 5 years old under my father who was a master Shodo painter. Shodo and Sumi-E painting is my roots, my culture, and my father's legacy. They are beautiful Japanese traditional arts and I deeply appreciate my father who taught me and my heritage.
