The Great Wave Painting

An artist's rendition of 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' which was a woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai in 1831. I took it a challenge for myself to recreate the historic painting in oil, which was not an easy endeavour to say the least. Approximately 300 hours later I believe I have created something worthy of being displayed and to enhance the ambiance of any space. Much love was put into this painting to stay true to the original woodblock print style and to maintain the accurate proportions of the original. I believe it would lift any room or gallery with its calming palette contrasting with the peril and danger of the great waves.
