The Hand of God Painting

I have traveled extensively and what captures my imagination is the people - their cultures, way of life, appearance and how they express themselves through their clothing, art and architecture. When I draw on these experiences to paint I try to create a feeling, one that reflects a particular people and how they live, or something beautiful or powerful I’ve seen in nature; that feeling comes from the combination and flow of colour and the texture I build on the canvas. I use acrylics, gels and sometimes a heavier textural element like plaster to create paintings with a complex layering of colours and texture. This piece was inspired by watching a storm growing and becoming a powerful engine of disruption, followed by the beauty and serenity of calm.
