“FIFTH WARD” - The face of Georgian Government from 2003 to 2012. Maybe, this is one of the famous and significant picture in Post-Soviet Georgian Art. This picture named “Fifth Ward” (see all pictures), which is created in the genre of Political Art, conveys the mood and state of politics and the people of Georgia during the reign of criminal M. Saakashvili and his party "United National Movement". Art galleries did not want to exhibit this painting because of its political content. They were intimidated by the Saakashvili regime and I was forced to put on a political art show in front of the parliament building.
“Fifth Ward” was performed before huge audience in front of the building of The Parliament of Georgia, and it happened two days before the elections (29. 09. 2012). After these landmark elections, Saakashvili's party was defeated and shortly thereafter, Saakashvili fled from Georgia.
This picture is symbolic and represents the face of all political figures, who ignore human rights and humanistic principles of mankind.
Material: Canvas
Medium: Oil, Pop art elements
Size (Full, with outer frame corners): 173 X 135,5 cm.
Size (without outer frame corners): 158 X 120,5 cm.
I think, this historical painting will be a great addition to any museum or private collection of a collector.
In addition to the painting, I’ll include a magazine – “The Way” („გზა“), that has my interview in Georgian language. Editors of the magazine, put the image of the painting on the cover of the magazine (see pictures).
