ABOUT THE ARTWORK

As with all my work, it is part of the Social Surrealism collection, a timestamp of the history of our society. A reflection of the many issues we face, a snapshot of what we must confront, and change. Including racism, inequality, pollution, greed and war. Watercolors are used as a sculpting medium, and pencil used as a paintbrush. The medium is allowed to speak to the artist, guiding the artwork through it's phases. The portraits in these paintings are studies of faces, combined together to illustrate the oneness of humanity, with the intention of exposing racial division. Half of each portrait is the face of a person of color. The other half of the portraits are Caucasian faces. Mostly portrait studies of celebrities. People like Jack Nicholson, Chuck Berry, Angelina Jolie, Missy Elliot, Jon Von Jovi, Usher, Brandy, Brian Grazier, Don Cheadle, Rosario Dawson, and others are represented in this 6 panel series. This painting is the 1st in a series of 6 panels. Ideally all 6 panels would be displayed together. If purchased separately, the Jack Berry painting should be paired with the 2nd painting, Missy Jolie.
