Asma Kazi (b. Kuwait) is an Indian multidisciplinary artist, whose practice explores speculative ecologies at the edge of collapse and renewal. Working across painting, drawing, and digital media, Kazi constructs complex biomorphic environments where mutation, interdependence, and systemic intelligence become tools for reimagining other worlds. Drawing from her academic background in Zoology and Business Strategy, alongside earlier professional roles at GE Card Services and Cushman & Wakefield, Kazi approaches her art as both a biological inquiry and structured world building. Her practice synthesizes evolutionary biology, chaos theory, magical realism, and science fiction, resulting in lush compositions that explore metamorphosis, interdependence, and the search for order within chaos. Kazi embarked on her artistic journey in 2012, and since then she has participated in group exhibitions both in India and the US. Kazi’s work has been exhibited at Akar Prakar (New Delhi), TAO Art Gallery (Mumbai), Vida Heydari Contemporary (Pune), AKG Micro Gallery (Chicago), Garrett Museum of Art (Indiana), OCAM (Davos, Switzerland), and other group exhibitions in the United States and India. She has also collaborated with Hachette Books India, Zee TV, Hoshruba Repertory, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (HitRecord). Her speculative fiction story “Bahameen” appears in the anthology Magical Women (Hachette Books India). Across mediums, her work constructs hybrid ecosystems where organisms, myths, and memory co-exist, inviting viewers into her many layered terrains of enchantment and holding space for reflection, adaptation, and the quiet but persistent possibility of renewal. Asma Kazi lives and practices in Pune, India.
