About The Artwork
I played around with apples in a basket one evening and stumbled into this composition. The more I walked around it, the better I liked it. The apples are dark red and look good enough to eat. The knife on the crystal plate is ready for action, to cut the apples into nice juicy wedges. As much as oils would have done justice to this painting, I could not help but attempt doing it with watercolors. I believe I succeeded. I hope my collectors agree.

My name is Oscar Rayneri and I was born in Havana, Cuba. I came with my family to the U.S. in 1956. I was proud to become a citizen on the unfortunate date of November 22, 1963, the day that President Kennedy was assassinated. I started drawing when I was very young and began a detective strip when I was nine. I still have every page of it. After graduating from college, I began painting in oils and when I started doing outdoor shows, I switched to the hardest medium of all, watercolors. I have been painting in watercolors ever since.
