The Old Door (Arbúcies) captures a moment of rustic beauty. Sunlight bathes an old wooden door, once the entrance to stables, revealing a symphony of colors across its weathered surface. I am a Catalan painter from Barcelona, Spain. Nature has always been my main source of inspiration, whether in still lifes, landscapes, figures, or seascapes. My painting is emotional — the beauty of the world around us is what moves me and compels me to paint. Particularly visceral for me is the landscape, which demands a more impressionistic approach to capture the wonder of ever-changing light. Through color, one can reflect everything we see, especially when working en plein air, painting directly in front of the original landscape. There, we don’t just see it — we breathe it, feel it, make it our own — and all of that becomes part of the work itself. My artistic influences include Velázquez, Rembrandt, Sorolla, Sargent, Zorn, Mir, Casas, and many others. I am fortunate to live in Barcelona, Catalonia, a city full of inspiring corners that constantly invite me to paint. The Costa Brava (Girona) is my reference point for seascapes, while the diverse landscapes of my region accompany me throughout my work. I am also deeply interested in portraiture, especially commissioned portraits, striving to capture the personality and presence of the sitter — something Velázquez achieved like no one else.
