Many of my pieces reflect my personal journey of self-discovery. "The Other SIde of Metamorphosis" is a documentation of what happens as one becomes more personally aware. The bubbles in the painting represent the bubbling up of consciousness, as well as representing cocoons. As the cocoon bursts open new thoughts that have formed burst forth and take flight. The butterflies (new thoughts) wash over the being and begin to merge with her. As her internal world changes so does her projections into the external world. The new thoughts lead to new words lead to new actions. The owl, a symbol of wisdom, quietly supports and observes. Both beings have a serene look and closed mouth, symbolizing wisdom in the form of being, instead of doing. This piece comes in a wood frame with a faux mercury glass finish.
