The painting depicts a woman who represents Ukraine. Her figure is located on the square near the building of the drama theater in Mariupol, which was used as a bomb shelter during the attack of the russian armed forces and the blockade of the city. According to various sources, from 500 to 1,200 people were hiding in it. In the woman's hand is a piece of chalk, with which she wrote the word "children" with the hope that the russian invaders will not bomb the drama theater. But the inscription "children", which was clearly visible from the sky, did not stop the russian armed forces from launching an aerial bomb attack on the drama theater on March 16, 2022. The city of Mariupol was mercilessly bombed, and since May 20, 2022, it has been occupied by the invaders of the russian federation. The picture is designed to reflect the pain of the huge losses of the civilian population of the city of Mariupol.
