About The Artwork

The picture was about information and time, the duplication and replication of information across aeons, spreading. The title seemed perfect, and was not inspired by Dali’s most famous painting, but as soon as I thought of it and concluded that the idea was literally about the persistence of memory, I decided to make the painting the same size as Dali’s work. Like most of my work in oils, this is painted in several thin and perfectly smooth layers of oil paint. I typically use an imprimatura (base tone), an opaque underpainting in earth or neutral colours, and a glaze layer in more transparent and brighter colours. I use a tiny amount of amber in my painting medium to add a unique level of stability, and a silvery lustre to the result.
