The 3 portraits on that work, were all inspired by the MMA fighter Nate Diaz' face.
It is also a kind of endorsement of the tradition of the "picture in the picture" which goes all along history of art.
Mixing technics, esp. paintings and engraving, on a rough surface, is also an influence from urban art.
At last, if my body of work remains fighters, considered as contemporary heroes in the western civilization, I am now picturing them in another context of rest and contemplation.
That still might be an influence of meditating.

I work on the contemporary western male identity. Today, it is seen as a blured and moving area. This phenomenon mainly results from the current changes in terms of relationships between men and women, and the raise of the genders questions. Thus, its artistic representation is in need for being experimented. It is about examining how it stays in line with the models of the past while escaping them. Evaluating its historical part of violence and its new fragile one, which both stir and transform it. To this end, I often recycle manhood archetypes (the soldier, the boxing fighter, the mythological hero...) to put them in resonance with the emotions spread by today's medias, adverts and online social networks. In addition to choosing a figurative and expressionist style, I frequently integrate pieces of clothes in my creative process. Not only as an heritage from modern art, but also to provide a deeper and more concrete dimension to the identity matter.
