The artwork presents a nostalgic narrative in a surrealistic scene featuring four figures in The Rocks area with the Sydney Harbour Bridge prominently in the background. In the foreground, a man wearing a long coat holds a bouquet of flowers positioned unusually around his neck and hand, reflecting a contrast between wealth and poverty. Another older man stands beside him, similarly dressed in a blue coat, gazing toward the couple seated at a table. This couple, representing different social strata within an elusive social circle, sits at a table covered with a pink tablecloth; the woman rests her head on her hand while the bald man beside her faces away. The setting includes a tiled floor, enhancing the dreamlike quality of the painting. The artwork encapsulates a complex weave of emotions and relationships set against this evocative backdrop. Infused with symbolic and metaphysical elements, the figures and their expressions convey stories of longing, introspection, and connection, highlighting the socio-economic contrasts among them. Every brushstroke in oil contributes to a narrative that invites the viewer into a deeper contemplation of interpersonal dynamics. This piece promises to bring a powerful blend of contemplative energy and emotional depth to any space it inhabits.

My initial art training occurred in TAFE and Colleges of Advanced Education in Sydney, Australia the 1970s, where I was strongly influenced by Abstract Expressionism, sculptural formalism and performance-installation art. I practiced as a sculptor and performance artist until the late 80s. This was punctuated by two performances at the Cite Internationale Des Artes, Paris in 1984 courtesy of a AGNSW Moya Dyring Studio residency and an Australia Council travel grant. In the 1990s I began to paint and studied a Master of Arts at The University of Western Sydney from 99-2001.Over 20 years my studio research evolved to embrace the concept of "totalized time" and the stratification of memory in my work lends itself to the historical references I use in my paintings, creating a mixture of philosophical and ideological threads through time.
