This piece is inspired by the famous artist Katsushika Hokusai and his well known wave compositions, I have developed my own gestures and techniques when applying oil glazes, bringing together and in fact mixing influences from both East and West.

I build waves into my work representing sound in motion and I create the painting with brushes, fingers and subtle pallet knife touches recreating waves of colored sound and movement.
I used a tradition palette of colors and mixed tints and tones to capture the depth and atmosphere.
This is a original oil painting on canvas, the focal point in any room.

Julie Bond is a full time artist living in North Devon UK. "Movement and the play of light on water, clouds, in fact all of nature inspire me. I use oils on canvas or board in a traditional way and use a renaissance palette as my base. I introduce new colours and use traditional fine art techniques with mixtures of more abstract, broad brush strokes to give life and vitality to my work. Portraiture and figurative art have been my foundation and my latest collections of oils are enjoying more of a free flow with the emphasis on contrasting light and depth. I love the mythological, romantic themes of the famous Bouguereau and the subject and style of Turner in contrast. My paintings are not overtly textural and painterly, but I create mood and interest with a careful build up of thin glazes producing art that is calm and atmospheric." website: directory Listing:
