This painting speaks to the moments when you don't know whether you're swimming or drowning. Literally, figuratively. Sometimes it's so hard to keep it all together. You struggle just to keep your head above water. But water lifts us, supports us, gives us life. I want people to wonder if the figure is swimming or drowning. To be confronted by the tension between fighting or giving up, between struggling or being carried. This entire water series explores this theme.
