Lia Kaufman was born in 1960, and currently lives and works in Pardesiya, Israel. She is a self-taught artist, who works mainly with various painting and drawing techniques. The foundation for all of Lia's works is observation. Art is the tool with which she transports herself from the place of an observer – the viewer – to the presenter; she draws ideas and observations from the tangible world and translates their essence to paintings and drawings on canvas or paper. Along with the search for representing human emotion and different slices of life, in her works she explores and experiments with diverse work methods, including an original technique created by experimenting with the incorporation of polymeric materials in art, by the name of "Blups" – an array of dots that create a whole – which goes hand in hand with the works' subject matter; the human components portrayed in her works are like the "Blups" dots that compose the painting. In addition, she also works with oil paints on canvas and metal, and with pencil on paper.
