Acrylic painting on gallery canvas. Framed, ready to hang on wall. Represented in "ART-Artists from the 15th to 21st Century", Regards Editions d'Art 2007, France. Together with other artists such as Bacon, Basquiat, Cezanne, Dali, Da Vinci, Gaugin, Kandinsky, Yves Klein, Rembrandt, Rubens, Turner, Van Gogh, Velasquez, Vermeer and Warhol. "Richard Solstjärnas bold, expressive paintings depict abstracted, loosely anthropomorphic figures in which no precise human body is discernable, but which seem to be living, vital creatures - spirits, perhaps, or beings in constant metamorphosis, defined only by their vigorous energy and resonance of color. The figures, painted in vivid hues of red, orange and yellow, glow like fiery sprites against color fields of blue. In this animate primary palette, the spontaneous strokes of red possess such a sense of rhytmic movement that they seem to depict spirit incarnate, while the vast blues create an expanse of space that emphasize the isolation of the individual and the enormity of the external world, the world in which the spirit exists, acts, and grows. Solstjärna's art bridges Eastern and Western art forms, incorporating the zest of abstract expressionism with the grace of Japanese calligraphy and the simplicity of Zen Buddhist art forms. Solstjärna has displayed his art in exhibitions all over Europe and in the U.S., and has won several awards for his work in France and Italy." Danica Novgorodoff, art critic NY, USA.
