About The Artwork

In this painting i painted in a totally different way, experimenting with just 4 colours and using few as possible brush strokes. I did the venezian imprimature with a light oxide red pigment and then the drawing with charcoal and after some sessions of painting decided use these two first layers untouched next to the oil like in the hair where it's mainly charcoal or some parts of the skin where the imprimature blends with the oil. The background is a mix of iridescent steel and silver oils with tones of prussia blue and yellow, if you see it from different angles it softly shines like metal. The wait represents how i try to feel when im impacient, Agata (the model) is waiting but she is calm and in peace, she has the security that the wait won't be in vain because she is certain about what's about to happen. The imprimature was made with rabbit skin glue (not really from a rabbit but same composition) as the old masters with the pigment. The canvas is high quality cotton stretched on a frame, the oils are all Williambsburg and i only used linseed oil as medium. This painting should last 10.000 years and i hope will find its way trough different people and places trough time.

Martín Albornoz is a mixed media painter who blends classical figurative techniques with modern subjects. His aim is to evoke emotions and sensations in the observer through his paintings. He works exclusively with traditional materials and techniques, creating masterpieces with oil, charcoal, pastel, and gold and bronze accents. Born in Chile, Martín's journey as an artist began with a trip to Europe where he discovered the beauty of classical figurative painting. He then shifted his focus from business administration to Visual Arts, but found that the educational institutions did not offer the level of figurative training he was seeking. Undeterred, he sought out private instruction from renowned realist painters, including Ricardo Ramirez, Andrea Carreño, and former pupil of Odd Nerdrum, Javier Adams. Martín continues to study the techniques of Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Titian to perfect his craft. Martín's paintings are a celebration of beauty, love, and mythology, each a unique interpretation of his vision of these timeless themes. His signature style is immediately recognizable, with a raw, non-hyperrealistic approach to his subjects. He often incorporates runes into his paintings, with hidden messages and signatures that add depth and meaning to his works. The creation of each painting is a multi-step process, starting with sketching and composition, finding models, taking photographs, refining the composition with photoshop, and finally transferring the image to the canvas using the traditional Venetian technique.
