About The Artwork

This artwork is inspired from my time spent in Kyoto during an exchange in 2011. After travelling in Sakyo-ku (north of Kyoto) to visit Kibune shrine, I came across a wide and incredible diversity of plants and experienced the depth of animism. I added this to a liking of mine for fern which is omnipresent in Japanese landscape. This painting shows many different types of painting technique to match the diversity of the semi-tropical vegetation which lives on even in early winter. TECHNICAL DETAILS This painting is stretched on extra professional stretcher bars. I used highly saturated rabbit skin glue for the main fern in order to keep the pigments together over time and make the canvas lightly frown on the bigger leaves. Please note also that this painting shows different depths of different blacks. The painting is varnished to resist to UV and last in time, it is shipped in a crate and delivered ready to hang.

The artist moved to London in 2010 to pursue practice and studies there and then moved to Japan to explore a long time fascination for the Japanese art culture. Strong of a European background with Asian influences and a growing affinity with Street Art, Oscar finally moved to NYC for an artist residency in 2016 and has stayed there ever since as Oscar's art message has been well received in the big apple.
