"The Boy Is Crying" is part of a diptych titled "The Boy Is Crying While His Mother Sleeps." This painting was born out of my reflection on the emotional distance between adults and children in today’s world. Too often, children are treated as obstacles — to careers, to personal freedom, to rest. T...

Oks PestO is a Udmurt artist currently living in Spain. Art has always been a part of my life. As a child, to cope with fear and loneliness, I created an imaginary world — a country where love reigned, no one died, and the sun always shone brightly. I drew this world on paper, and now I understand that art was what helped me survive and ultimately shaped the path of my life. As an adult, I want to extend a helping hand to those facing difficult life circumstances. I am deeply concerned with social issues, especially those affecting the most vulnerable groups: the elderly, orphans, people with disabilities, migrants, and individuals serving time in correctional facilities. These are people who often find themselves in hopeless situations and don’t know how to cope. I believe that through active engagement with art, it is possible to help these individuals temporarily regain control over their lives. Even a brief experience of success can become a catalyst for positive change, allowing a person to feel stronger and rise above their circumstances. In my work, I explore the interaction between humans and their environment, focusing on how individuals can overcome external influence. I prefer to depict not what I see, but what I feel. It's important for me to capture and materialize the images that come into this world through me. I create spaces and imaginative universes that captivate, attract, and inspire people — transforming them for the better. I live by the principle: do what you love and what brings joy to others. Be happy!
