Svitlana Tykhomyrova is a Ukrainian contemporary artist based in Belgium. In her paintings, Svitlana explores the interaction between colour and form, the rational and the irrational, movement and stillness, spontaneity and structure, as well as the emotional experiences that arise in the perception of the surrounding world. With a strong artistic sensibility, Svitlana works across several painting genres — abstraction, contemporary landscape, and floral abstraction. Her abstract landscapes are deep, multilayered, and enigmatic. They invite the viewer into an almost meditative contemplation, where the gaze can linger indefinitely. Abstraction is the artist’s most beloved form of expression. She considers it the most complex and captivating for both the artist and the viewer. Abstraction stimulates the imagination, encouraging us to go beyond the visible and the material. Svitlana Tykhomyrova’s abstract paintings are expressive, well-balanced in terms of colour and emotional impact. Her creative process combines spontaneity with intention, intuition with thoughtful attention to form and composition. Through layering, colour palettes, texture, and expressive gestures, she creates unique visual worlds. In the interplay of ambiguity and clarity, energy and calm, light and shadow, she reflects the beauty of nature's transience, the speed of the modern world, and the ever-shifting landscape of human emotions, fantasies, and associations. "The most fascinating part of the painting process for me is taming and organizing the inner chaos of the unconscious. It’s like diving deep within and returning through the emergence of a new artwork. Painting is my personal Terra Incognita: an uncharted, mystical, and free land — a place I journey to in search of something timeless and beautiful, something that will take form through me and remain forever captured on canvas." In her work, Svitlana combines artistic intuition, technical skill, and deep emotional involvement. Her goal is for each viewer or collector to experience a sense of aesthetic pleasure and connection through her art. She primarily works with oil, oil pastels, and high-quality acrylics. In 2009, she graduated from Cherkasy State Technological University with a degree in Graphic Design. She worked in advertising and graphic design for some time, but eventually chose the path of a visual artist — a calling that had always been most in tune with her inner self.
