ABOUT THE ARTWORK
When I start working on a piece, I don’t plan ahead on purpose. Usually I work on several drawings, paintings and videos at the same time, which results in an interaction between them. This becomes clearly visible when I create an installation. In those you can clearly see moments or phases of drawings, paintings or videos which I develop further at a later date. This process can take time, some of my paintings take years to finish. That is why the years are an integral part of the title. The process becomes part of the artwork. I love the raw images, the multiple layers, the story and image which derives its existence from the process and the subconscious. The deeper layers of the soul. The moment that I can keep on looking at an artwork and get lost in it. The merging of these layers. The dynamic, the energy, which seems to stand still, and stays just beyond your grasp.
