Another shiny object in which one can see all sorts of strange worlds. The title refers to the nursery rhyme involving someone called Polly who is repeatedly instructed to put the kettle on, however there is also a strong sense of loss, of people no longer with us.

I’m a painter, originally from Bristol, UK. My formal academic training includes studying Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, London and at the University of Brighton, where I gained an MA in 2016. I paint portraits of ‘overlooked’ objects: humble, everyday things that have a past unknown to me, as I’ve collected them from flea markets, car boot sales and antiques shops. I use dramatic chiaroscuro lighting to transform unglamorous bric-a-brac into precious artefacts, and celebrate the generations of unseen hands through which they have passed. My influences include Chardin, Cotán, Morandi, Zurbarán, and the Dutch still life painters of the seventeenth century. My work is in private collections throughout the UK and internationally.
