ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Tidal II" is an original acrylic painting on canvas. Set on a deep stretcher it can be framed, or hung as is, directly onto the wall. I painted it alongside "Tidal I", and the two paintings work beautifully together, and almost flow together. This painting is one of my most recent. With this latest set of work, I wanted to create a strong beautiful graphic compositions. I then wanted to balance this strength with softer, more delicate tones and hues. Using the circle motif, I want the viewer to be gently carried through the painting with these beautiful flowing shapes. I love the strength of colour in this painting. The deep blue pulls you in, and yet there is space, air & light for you to breathe, and swim around the painting. I really love the modern sensibility of this painting. It feels fresh modern, and graphic. But also has a strong emotional pull, created by the use of colour and mark. I would like the viewer to be uplifted and soothed by this painting.

Ele Pack received her degree from Loughborough College of Art. She now lives and works in the beautiful Peak District, in the UK. She has work in private collections in Canada, the US, Japan and Europe. She has exhibited her paintings both nationally, and internationally. Her work has been exhibited by various UK galleries, and overseas in Germany, Sweden and the US. "I believe that visual language has a potent power, like music or literature. And it has the power to lift, communicate and transform. Using pattern and mark to create rhythm, I use a range of materials; paint, pencil, fabric, collage, metallics, and build up my paintings in a very organic way. I overlay layers of paint, mark and collage to build up the pictorial space. This creates glimpses, hidden spaces, things half_ shown, suggested. I use delicate layers of texture, drawing and colour to create an ambiguous space. The image is then worked and re_worked until the image is “found”. Only when a balance and integration is achieved I feel that the painting is finished. I like to think of them as “visual poems”. This sensual world is one to be absorbed, felt, and enjoyed. "
