About The Artwork

Audrey Hepburn was a British actress and humanitarian. Born on May 4, 1929, in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium, she spent her childhood between Belgium, England, and the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, she studied ballet with Sonia Gaskell before moving to London in 1948 to continue ballet training and work as a chorus girl in West End musical theatre productions. Her film career began with the educational travelogue "Dutch in Seven Lessons" (1948). Hepburn's first starring role was in "Roman Holiday" (1953), for which she was the first actress to win an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for a single performance. That same year, she won a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play for "Ondine". She went on to star in a number of successful films, such as "Sabrina" (1954), "The Nun's Story" (1959), "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961), "Charade" (1963), "My Fair Lady" (1964), and "Wait Until Dark" (1967), receiving various awards and nominations for her performances. Known for her style, elegance, and grace, both on and off the screen, Hepburn became a fashion icon, popularizing trends such as the little black dress and ballet flats. She was also noted for her charitable work, becoming a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF in her later years, working in some of the most profoundly disadvantaged communities of Africa, South America, and Asia between 1988 and 1992. For her humanitarian work, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in December 1992. Audrey Hepburn remains one of the few performers to have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. She passed away on January 20, 1993, at the age of 63, but her legacy as a film icon and humanitarian continues to endure. Come with signed certificate of authenticity
