ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Two figures stand close, they face out in opposite directions in a world where the light is a wash of acid yellows turning to chartreuse. Their attire is cumbersome and makes it difficult to communicate with each other. They seem prepared for anything. Aware of themselves, each other and appearing to be posed on the verge of adventure. This piece includes references to images I favor and collect. The diving suits are taken from a favorite cartoon villain. The boot borrowed from a vintage vampire poster in the distance are stylized chicken wings and a handbag that seems suspended in the murky atmosphere. The paint and pencil used to create this piece is washed, scrubbed and scratched onto the surface adding texture, concealing and revealing the surfaces under each layer. This painting will be shipped to you unframed so that you may choose a frame that enhances the work and joins it into your environment.
