ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is painted with dye, gesso and paint on vintage fabric adhered on to a wood panel. The painting is part of a series of paintings called 'the dreamers'. It reflects on the millennial generation, and was inspired by ideas of identity and belonging. The painting is a perfect square, which gives the work a commanding dynamic presence. The texture of the collaged background adds interest to the portrait of a woman. Blue, turquoise and electric yellow are used to echo the colours of the ocean.

Pam Glew, born 1978, is a mixed media painter, known for her use of fabric, flags and bleached canvases. She exhibits internationally, with solo shows in London, Paris and Sydney and has exhibited at Dallas Contemporary and Honolulu Museum of Art. Pam has produced numerous commissions for fashion brands from Ralph Lauren to Armani, MTV and Microsoft. Her work is housed at Saatchi & Saatchi London, Mitsubishi Bank, and in collections worldwide. Pam is co-curator at Paxton+Glew Gallery, showing contemporary art in Brighton's Lanes.
